Proton Drive: Your Ultimate Secure Document Solution

Embracing Privacy and Teamwork: A Resounding Yes!

Proton Launches Secure Docs Program

Proton, the Swiss company known for its end-to-end encrypted Proton Mail program, is introducing a new Docs program that aims to prioritize security and user-friendliness, much like its Mail and Drive programs.

Announced as part of the Proton Suite of encrypted applications, Docs is integrated with Proton Drive, which has recently received updates for iPhone Photos and enhanced encrypted sharing features.

Following its acquisition of Standard Notes in April 2024, Proton is now expanding its suite of secure programs. The company has emphasized that the new Docs feature offers a secure alternative to platforms like Google Docs, ensuring privacy and security while maintaining essential features and ease of use.

The upcoming Docs program will include Rich Text editing, comments, collaboration capabilities, and support for embedded images. Users can collaborate with non-Proton users by having them create a free account to access shared documents. Real-time visibility of document viewers and editors, along with compatibility with various formats including Microsoft .docx, are also promised.

Rolling out to all Proton users in the coming days, Docs will be accessible to all without the need for a premium account. Proton has also hinted at future enhancements to the program, with a focus on improved collaboration tools for easier content creation and editing with teams.
