Google Introduces Updated Shopping Features for Summer Deals
Summer brings thoughts of sun, vacations, and... sales? According to Google, that's exactly what it means.
In an announcement shared with Lifewire, Google revealed on Monday that it was enhancing Google Shopping features to help users discover summer bargains. The search giant noted, "In recent years, online searches for 'deals' have surged in mid-July, even surpassing interest in 'vacations.' And 44% of shoppers admit that deal days encourage them to shop more than usual."
To help users gear up for the summer spending spree, Google is launching an updated deals section where they can browse the latest discounts from various retailers. By visiting Google's Shopping hub and searching for "shop deals," users can access a carousel showcasing the newest deals from online retailers. These deals span a range of retailers, including direct-to-consumer brands, big-box stores, luxury multi-brand retailers, designer labels, and small boutiques.
One key feature is the ability to view pricing across retailers, including membership discounts. For instance, if a user is searching for a patio set and holds a Costco membership, they can easily see the discounted price offered by Costco for items that match their search criteria directly from their Google search.
Moreover, users can gain insight into current product pricing trends. Google provides "historical averages over the past 90 days," enabling users to track price fluctuations and receive alerts when an item's price drops.
This new deals section is now accessible in the US and offers all these features within Google Shopping.
